Centenary Heights State High School has issued an alert following an incident involving a student on her way to school this morning.
According to an email sent to parents by CHSHS executive principal Maryanne Walsh, a female student “was accosted by an unknown male just near the roundabout at South and Geddes Sts” in South Toowoomba.
“This male, in his 30s/40s, parked his car to the side of South Street just near the roundabout and called our student over asking for help with directions,” the email said.
“She walked to the window and witnessed him performing a sexual act on himself.
“She left that area quickly and made her way to the safety of our school office where she was cared for with a report being made immediately to police along with contact home.”
Ms Walsh said the student was in a “good state” and arrangements had been made with her family to ensure her safety to and from school in the future.
“I ask that you have conversations with your children around your advice regarding their personal safety and where possible, they are in the company of others when making their way to and from school,” Ms Walsh said.
