A Toowoomba woman fronted court for multiple driving offences after she drove into a police traffic sting at Harristown in December.
At the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 6, Natasha Louise Umpelby pleaded guilty to driving despite never holding a driver’s licence, and driving while a relevant drug was in her system.
Police prosecutor Nick Pratt said when Umpelby was pulled over along Carrel Drive on December 22, 2023, she returned a positive roadside reading for a relevant drug, which further analysis confirmed was methamphetamine.
Mr Pratt said when Umpelby was taken to the mobile police van for further testing she admitted to smoking ice the night before.
He noted the Commodore was also not registered or insured, however Umpelby received infringement notices for those offences.
The court heard the mother had a significant and relevant history, and she had never been the holder of a driver’s licence.
Umpelby was fined $650 and disqualified from obtaining a driver’s licence for six months.
