Toowoomba pair charged after $20k meth haul allegedly found at Kearneys Spring home

While being chased by police, two people allegedly threw away a bag containing a large amount of meth, cash and other drugs.

A man and woman’s attempt to evade police did not play out as they’d hoped after officers found a bag containing a large bag of meth, with a street value of about $20,000.

Police were called to a Kearneys Spring home on Stumm St after reports of a vehicle driving dangerously, about 11.55am on Sunday.

As they arrived, several people ran from the home and one person threw a suspicious bag over a fence.

When officers searched the bag, it is alleged they found 82.2g of methylamphetamine, some cannabis, $4400 in cash, restricted medications, drug utensils, and a knife. Officers then searched the property and found 52 stolen power tools, stolen number plates, a taser, and two mobile phones.

A 52-year-old Kearneys Spring man has been charged with four counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence, possessing anything for use in the commission of a crime, possessing utensils or pipes, possessing a knife in public, and receiving tainted property.

He is due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on 26 August.

A 25-year-old Kearneys Spring woman has been charged with four counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of unlawful possession of a weapons, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence, possessing property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence, possessing utensils or pipes, possessing a knife in public, and receiving tainted property.

She has been remanded in custody to reappear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on 31 July.
