CONVICTION RECORDED
Ry Dylan Gleeson
An unemployed Toowoomba man had his licence suspended for six months after he was caught driving with meth in his system – again.
Ry Dylan Gleeson fronted Toowoomba Magistrates Court on January 15, and pleaded guilty to driving at Emu Creek while a relevant drug was present in his saliva.
The court was told the former FIFO rig worker was pulled over on the New England Highway on December 6, and returned a positive roadside drug test, which was later confirmed by a lab as being methamphetamine.
The court was told Gleeson had a history of driving with ice in his system.
Gleeson told the court he had the capacity to pay a fine because he was returning to the energy industry and had lined a job with a drilling company.
He was fined $750 and a conviction was recorded.
NO CONVICTION RECORDED
Braydon Reid
A Goombungee man lost his licence for four months after he was caught driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .054, while his licence was demerit point suspended.
On Tuesday, January 16, Braydon Anthony Reid-Stafford fronted Toowoomba Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to driving while a relevant drug was in his system.
The court was told when the boilermaker was pulled over by police at Gowrie Junction on December 7, he told the officer he had been drinking the night prior and didn’t believe he was over the limit.
The middle-aged man told the court he would likely lose his job following his disqualification, and was still in negotiations with his employer.
Magistrate Louise Shephard noted Reid’s error in judgment had caused significant consequences before fining him $500.
No conviction was recorded.
Isaac Courte
A young Toowoomba man lost his licence for one month after he was driving over the limit on New Year’s Eve.
On Monday, January 15, Isaac Anthony Courte fronted Toowoomba Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to driving over the general alcohol limit.
The court was told the 20-year-old transport driver was pulled over on Mary St, East Toowoomba, on December 31.
He told officers he was drinking at a friend’s the night prior but he had to head home in the morning earlier than expected.
The court was told the P-plate driver, who blew 0.061 at the Toowoomba police station, lived with and cared for his grandmother.
Courte, who had no prior history, was fined $350 and had to benefit of a conviction not being recorded.
Dylan Reed
A young Toowoomba dad had his driver’s licence suspended for nine months after he was caught driving with cannabis in his saliva while on a suspended license.
On Tuesday, January 16, Dylan Jackson Reed fronted the Toowoomba Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to driving while a relevant drug was in his system.
The court was told the 20-year-old was charged after he was pulled over by police in Toowoomba on November 23.
At the time, he admitted to officers he recently used cannabis.
Reed told the court he was looking for work and had a newborn to support, so he did not have the capacity to pay a fine.
Magistrate Louise Shephard ordered Reed to complete 50 hours of community service and gave the young man the benefit of not recording a conviction.
