Police are investigating a horror single-car crash that claimed the life of a woman on a highway northeast of Toowoomba.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said emergency crews were called to the crash on Falls Rd near the Brisbane Valley Hwy at Glen Esk about 1.30am today, April 11.

He said an initial investigation showed the car had crashed into a tree.

Paramedics were also called and treated a woman in her 30s for life-threatening injuries.

It’s understood the Toyota Camry left the road and struck a tree, with the driver and sole occupant, a 36-year-old Coverty woman, declared dead at the scene.

A QPS spokesman said the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash and are appealing to anyone who may have relevant information or dashcam vision to come forward.
