A Toowoomba motel cleaner caught driving with methamphetamine in her system twice has been charged with supplying dangerous drugs on the Western Downs.
The 44-year-old mother, Monica Josephine Garvey, fronted Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday, June 24, and pleaded guilty to two counts of drug driving and one count of driving on a suspended licence.
Garvey’s remaining charges of supplying drugs, possessing drugs, possessing drug utensils, and possessing an item used in the commission of a crime, were adjourned to be mentioned on July 30.
No pleas have been entered for these charges.
The court heard Garvey was caught driving with the meth in her system on August 16 and 31, 2023 in the Western Downs.
The first in time occurred at 1.55pm on Dalby Cecil Plains Road at St Ruth, and the second at 9.18am on Condamine St at Dalby.
Garvey instructed the duty lawyer she was travelling for work at the time of the offences and she had since moved to Toowoomba to start fresh.
The court heard her licence was immediately disqualified following the second positive roadside drug test.
She was caught behind the wheel on December 28, 2023, along Winton Rd at Dalby.
Garvey was fined $900 and her licence was disqualified for two years and two months.
A brief has been complied for the outstanding drug matter, but it is yet to be transferred to Toowoomba prosecution.
Garvey has submitted a legal aid application, and will next attend court in late July.
