Specialist police have arrested a 26-year-old man overnight in relation to an alleged assault on a Toowoomba father that left him with savage burns.

Officers from the Special Emergency Response Team arrested Yves William David Greenhill at a Rangeville address on Thursday afternoon.

It is understood Greenhill is alleged to have resisted arrest when the heavily-armed police arrived.

He was subdued and police allege they located a knife on his person.

Greenhill was held in the Toowoomba watch house overnight and charged with obstructing police, unlawful possession of a weapon and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

He is one of three people charged over the Stock Hotel assault.

Police alleged there was an altercation between the parties at the hotel shortly before 9.50pm on September 13.

Following the argument Jordan Moore, 26, was allegedly doused in petrol and set alight.

He was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with the “non-life-threatening” injuries before being flown to Royal Brisbane Hotel burns unit where he was intubated.

Courtney Lee Ramsey, 35, and Codie Leigh Bird, 31, have been arrested and charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm arising from the matter.

None of the accused have been required to enter a plea to their respective charges.

Greenhill appeared via video link from the watch house on Friday with his solicitor Nathan Bouchier applying for bail.

Mr Bouchier said his client had been assessed by the court liaison service and found to have mental health issues which needed to be further investigated.

However, Magistrate Kyna Morice noted Greenhill has 19 pages of criminal history and had only recently been released from jail having served time for an arson offence.

She said Greenhill could access mental health treatment while in custody and refused bail, remanding him in custody with the case adjourned for mention back in the same court on November 10.
