Two staff of a busy Toowoomba shopping centre were allegedly assaulted after confronting a group of teenagers accused of stealing from a store.

'Regionally in Queensland' there is a 'juvenile crime wave'

Two teenagers have been charged accused of an assault at a busy Toowoomba shopping centre after staff attempted to intervene in an alleged theft.

Police alleged that a number of juveniles stole items from a shop in Toowoomba Plaza, on Ruthven Street in Kearneys Spring about 2.15pm on Thursday, August 11.

After being confronted by a male shop attendant the group allegedly assaulted him, and after a female employee of the shopping centre followed the group outside she too was allegedly assaulted.

A number of juveniles were arrested a short time later, with a 14-year-old girl charged with stealing, robbery and assault, and a 17-year-old boy charged with robbery and stealing.
