A recidivist Toowoomba car thief who stole multiple cars days after he was released from custody has been sentenced in court. Here’s his punishment.

The Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard young car thief Montel Carlos Jordan Hooper stole two cars just weeks after he was released from custody.
Magistrate Louise Shepherd said Hooper committed the fresh unlawful use crimes in February when he was on parole and subjected to four different suspended sentences.
Hooper was released on parole on January 21, and was seen in a stolen car on February 5.
At the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on June 23, Hooper pleaded guilty to two charges of the unlawful use of stolen vehicles.
The court heard Hooper was remanded in custody since his arrest on February 19 – 124 days.
Magistrate Shepherd said his history was littered with property and unlawful use offences, and was lasted sentenced before the court in November 2022.
The court heard the most serious crimes Hooper committed were five robberies.
At the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on June 23, Hooper pleaded guilty to two charges of the unlawful use of stolen vehicles.
Magistrate Shepherd sentenced Hooper to a nine month prison term and fully evoked his suspended sentences.
The 124 days Hooper spent in presentence custody was declared as time served.
He was also given immediate parole eligibility.
