A Toowoomba police officer charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice has had his case mentioned before the city’s Magistrates Court.
Senior Constable Christopher Mayes Helsdon was not required to be in court on Wednesday when his matter was mentioned but was represented by solicitor Claire Graham of Skuse Graham Lawyers.
Ms Graham told the court she was acting as town agent for the 48-year-old accused’s legal representatives, the Brisbane based Gnech and Associates, who had instructed her to ask for an adjournment.
Ms Graham said Gnech and Associates had received the police brief of evidence pertaining to the case and would now decide whether to seek a committal hearing with cross examination.
No details of the case have as yet been aired in court and Sen. Const. Helsdon has not yet been called upon to enter a plea to the charge.
Acting Magistrate Roger Stark remanded Sen. Const. Helsdon on bail and adjourned the case for committal mention back in the same court on September 29.
