Second teen arrested over alleged carjacking of 85-year-old woman at Wilsonton Shopping Centre

A second juvenile alleged to have been involved in the violent carjacking of an elederly woman at a busy Toowoomba shopping centre surrendered to police overnight and will face court today.

A second boy wanted in connection to an alleged violent carjacking of an 85-year-old woman was arrested overnight and will face Toowoomba Childrens Court on Friday.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said the 16-year-old boy surrendered to officers at the Toowoomba Police Station.

“He was arrested, charged and denied bail,” Senior Sergeant McCusker said.

Two boys, both aged 16, are now charged with a string of offences that police allege were committed on August 19.

The alleged crime spree began when the boys allegedly dragged an elderly woman from her Honda HR-V at the Wilsonton Shopping Centre car park, about 4.30pm on Monday.

Senior Sergeant McCusker said police will allege the boys proceeded to steal fuel from the 7-Eleven service station at Highfields, before driving the Honda HR-V to the South Burnett region.

The boys are alleged to have broken into a cafe at Wooroolin, the Wondai IGA and a dwelling at Hodgleigh, where they stole another vehicle.

The Honda HR-V was dumped at Cherbourg about 2.30am on Tuesday.

Police have charged the boy with multiple offences, including robbery with violence, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, break and enter, entering a premises with intent and four counts of breaching bail.

His co-accused is charged with 10 offences including two counts each of entering dwelling and committing, and unlawful use of motor vehicle, three counts of entering premises and committing, and one count each of stealing, armed robbery, and entering premises with intent and was remanded in custody until October 17.
