Police looking for the driver of red ute who may know what happened to Traie Olsen

Traie’s disappearance is out of character and police along with family hold grave concerns for her welfare as she has not been seen or heard from since.

Toowoomba police have renewed their calls for witnesses to come forward with information about the disappearance of Indigenous woman Traie Olsen.

Ms Olsen, 50, was last seen at a Bridge Street petrol station in Newtown about 1am on Thursday, February 16 while refuelling her silver 2004 Mazda hatchback (QLD rego 456DC8).

Police have released footage of this visit where Ms Olsen is seen to talk with a man after their vehicles were involved in a minor collision on Bridge Street.

Ms Olsen’s Mazda was found abandoned on a 4WD track on Gittins Road in Withcott about 9am on February 17.

Investigators are specifically appealing to the driver of a red ute with its bonnet up, seen just before Green Gully Road around the time of Traie’s disappearance, to make contact.

Police said this was an area that Ms Olsen did not have a clear reason to visit.

The discovery prompted an extensive land search involving SES volunteers and police drones which recovered several of Ms Olsen’s personal items.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who visits the area to come forward if they saw Ms Olsen her vehicle in the area, which is a popular trail bike riding area.

There are also several homes nearby.

Traie is described as light-skinned or caucasian in appearance, about 165cm tall with a slight build, black hair and brown eyes.
