Police charge six men over CBD bashing that put man in hospital with significant head injury

Police will allege that one of the attackers used a metal bar to bash the victim as he lay on the pavement in the middle of the Toowoomba CBD.

Six men will front court on Friday charged over a savage beating in the Toowoomba CBD that put a man in hospital with a significant head injury late last year.

Police allege the 30-year-old man was attacked by the group near the intersection of Russell and Ruthven Streets at about 5am on November 24, 2024.

One of the men is alleged to have used a metal bar to strike the 30-year-old while he was on the ground

He suffered significant head injuries and was taken to Toowoomba Hospital.

Two men aged 22, three men aged 20 and an 18 year old man have each been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm in company while armed, going armed to cause fear and affray.

All six were granted bail and are due to reappear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday, February 7.
