Queensland drug cop's plea to community

A Kearneys Spring grocery store night-fill worker will not be able to get himself to his shifts for three months after he was intercepted by officers while driving along Hume Street.

Raney Ambrose Juniper was the holder of a learner licence when he was intercepted at 2.55am on April 2.

Police Prosecutor Anita Paige said the 20-year-old was not accompanied by a driver and had two friends in the car - but that was the least of his worries.

Prosecutor Paige said a roadside drug test indicated Juniper had drugs in his system, and speaking with police at the scene, he admitted to smoking cannabis two days prior to driving.

However, saliva analysis revealed Juniper had methamphetamine in his system, as well as cannabis.

After Juniper pleaded guilty to drug driving at the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on June 13, Magistrate Clare Kelly fined the ex-labourer $350 and disqualified his licence for three months.
