A Toowoomba woman has fronted court after she was caught driving with methamphetamine in her system on the morning of January 6.

Toowoomba Magistrates Court was told Michelle Ann Fitch had been caught drug driving on two occasions in 2020.

In court on Thursday, March 23 Fitch pleaded guilty to the latest drug drive charge.

The mother told the court, if a conviction was recorded, it would likely affect her prospect of working in aged care as she was in the process of completing a Certificate III in aged care at TAFE.

The 39-year-old told magistrate Clair Kelly she was using ice because she had been hanging out with the wrong crowd.

However, since the incident, Fitch said she distanced herself from those particular associates.

“I made a stupid mistake,” she said.

Magistrate Kelly told Fitch that she was on notice, and if she came before the court again for drug driving she would likely have a conviction recorded.

Fitch was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for six months. No conviction was recorded.
