Man, woman court after ramming police vehicle at Charlton service station

Police tracked the couple to a Toowoomba service station but instead of surrendering the woman rammed an officer’s vehicle and fled into the night. But they didn’t get far.

THE woman accused of using a stolen car to ram a police vehicle has been denied bail after a brief appearance in Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

Police allege Hailee Jensen, 21, was tracked to the Ampol Service Station at Charlton about 2am on Tuesday after she was sighted in a RAV4 that was stolen from a Kearneys Spring home. It was there that police say she rammed one of their vehicles and fled.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said the vehicle had been torched on Oakey-Biddeston Road.

Police arrested Jensen and a 27-year-old male accomplice in Oakey on Wednesday.

Jensen is charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of dangerous operation, arson, unlicensed driving, stealing and receiving tainted property. Police allege Jensen stole two vehicles from homes in Kearneys Spring in recent days and one from Murphys Creek on April 7.

Jensen was held in custody overnight and made a brief appearance via video link.

The duty solicitor made an application for bail that was rejected on the grounds that she posed too great a risk.

Jensen will be held in custody to reappear in the same court later in June.

In an unrelated matter, Toowoomba police are searching for three luxury cars stolen in the past week.

They include a Black 2017 BMW (283 XGI) stolen from Westbrook, a white 2020 BMW X3 wagon (408AN6) and a silver 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan (MAC 20).

“These vehicles may not still have the correct registration plates and any sightings of them acting suspicious should be reported,” police said.
