A 58-year-old Toowoomba woman charged with arson arising from a fire at a Hume St unit had her case mentioned before the city’s Magistrates Court on Monday.
Karyn Crothers was not required to be in court for the brief mention of her matters but her solicitor Ryan McCullough, of MacDonald Law, told the court he was in regular contact with his client.
Mr McCullough said his client’s case was to go before the Mental Health Court and asked for a longer than usual adjournment as it took some time to get through the Mental Health Court process.
Ms Crothers was charged with arson arising from a fire in a flat at 1/327 Hume St, South Toowoomba, on July 14, 2022.
The unit sustained significant damage in the fire which a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services officer described at the time as “well involved” when crews arrived on scene.
She has not as yet been required to enter any plea to the charge of arson – building or structure, and she remains on bail awaiting a hearing in the Mental Health Court.
Acting magistrate Lisa O’Neill remanded Ms Crothers on bail and adjourned the case for mention back in the same court in December.
