Jonathan Wright has murder charge mentioned in Toowoomba Magistrates Court

Progress in the case against a Rockville man, accused of deliberately running over a Brisbane man at the side of the road near Withcott, has been delayed again.

Outstanding police material, including a post mortem examination report, has delayed the murder case against a Rockville man accused of running down another man with his utility.

Jonathan Wright, 46, is accused of initially running the vehicle containing Boronia Heights man Paul Sia and a friend off the Toowoomba Connection Rd near Withcott just after 3pm, November 20, 2022.

Police claim after 33-year-old Mr Sia got out of his vehicle, Mr Wright deliberately ran over him with his ute, leaving him with critical injuries.

Mr Sia died in a Brisbane hospital on December 3 having never regained consciousness.

As yet, Mr Wright has not been called upon to enter any pleas to the charges which include murder, two counts of endangering the safety of a person in a vehicle with intent, and one count of dangerous operation of motor vehicle.

Solicitor Alysha Jacobsen, of Bouchier Khan Lawyers, acting as town agent for Mr Wright’s legal team from Fisher Dore Lawyers, told Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday she had been instructed that the defence was still awaiting material from police.

That material included two witness statements and 23 exhibits including the post mortem examination report and medical evidence.

Magistrate Louise Shephard therefore remanded Mr Wright in custody and adjourned the matters for mention back in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on June 30.
