Jonathan Leslie Yates fronts court on robbery, dangerous operation of vehicle and evade police charges
The person who police allege dragged a 79-year-old man from his car and assaulted him before leading officers on a 22-hour chase had his charges read out in court for the first time.

The daughter of a man who police allege was bashed and robbed at the hands of Jonathan Leslie Yates said the family is thankful to the police, paramedics and hospital staff who helped him.
“Dad is especially grateful to the police and their swift action in this matter,” Rebecca Ashley said in a Facebook post.
“They have treated Dad with the utmost compassion and respect that he deserves.”
Mr Yates was arrested late Thursday afternoon at Kogan after he allegedly led police on a cross country chase that ended after he ran out of petrol.
Police allege the 34-year-old Avenell Heights man approached a 79-year-old man as he was waiting in a Land Cruiser utility at about 5.30pm on Wednesday and dragged him from the vehicle.
It is further alleged that Mr Yates assaulted the senior citizen and caused head injuries, named laceration to his face and ear which required stitches.
The stolen Land Cruiser was sighted at several locations across the Darling Downs and Southwest Queensland after the alleged carjacking, including at Roma at 1.30am on Thursday and on Warwick, Dalby and Jondaryan.
Mr Yates has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, stealing, evasion and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
Those were mentioned in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
Magistrate Clare Kelly ordered a brief of evidence to be disclosed by the prosecution on June 19.
Mr Yates did not apply for bail and remains in police custody.
His matter will next be before the court on June 30.
