A Crows Nest man racked up an extensive charge sheet with police alleging he drove at dangerous speeds and evaded officers before crashing a stolen supercar into a tree.

Stolen Maserati Recovered

POLICE will allege a stolen supercar reached breakneck speeds along the leafy suburban streets of Toowoomba before it was brought to a dramatic standstill by police spikes.

Crows Nest man Jake Paul Feige, 28, was taken into custody after police tracked a stolen Maserati Quattroporte from Ipswich to Toowoomba on Thursday, July 15.

Police were alerted to the stolen car’s location when it was seen at an alleged fuel drive off at a Haigslea early Thursday morning.

It was again observed on the Warrego Highway heading west about 6am.

Police spiked the luxury car’s tyres on Flagstone Creek Road and it was later observed doing upwards of 130km/h on Rowbotham St about 7am.

The vehicle’s front passenger side tyre blew out on Tourist Rd, sending it into a tree at the intersection of the South St and Tourist Rd.

Toowoomba Detective Acting-Senior Sergeant John Cunningham said police arrested the driver a short distance from the crash scene.

Mr Feige has been charged with three counts of trespass and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possess dangerous drugs, evasion, stealing, driving unlicensed, obstruct police, possession of a knife in a public place, burglary and receive tainted property.

In a brief appearance in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Thursday Mr Feige made no application for bail, and was remanded in custody to appear on Friday.

The incident comes after Toowoomba police used a Polair chopper to track two suspects driving a Porsche Macan, stolen from Mount Lofty.

“It doesn’t matter what type of vehicle it is, if the vehicle is being driven erratically there is concern for all members of the public,” Sgt Cunningham said.

“If it is driven at excessive speeds then terrible things can happen.”

The investigation continues and anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to phone Policelink on 131 444 or contact Crimestoppers.
