TOOWOOMBA Showgrounds management and show exhibitors will look into better practices after an incident on Saturday in which a tractor on show came loose and rolled across a road into another vehicle.

RASQ CEO Damon Phillips confirmed that police, Workplace Health and Safety officials, the vendor concerned and show society officials had investigated the matter which occurred in the Vanderfield presentation section at the Toowoomba Royal Show on Saturday afternoon.

Mr Phillips said it appeared some children had been playing on the tractor and had somehow taken off the vehicle’s brakes.

The tractor had rolled downhill across a road and into the gutter and another farm vehicle on show.

“One little girl who jumped out of the road (of the moving tractor) was upset but she was fine,” Mr Phillips said.

“There was no damage to either tractor.”

Mr Phillips said no further action would be taken by the Queensland Police Service but all involved would learn from the incident and look to implementing safer practices.

He said Workplace Health and Safety officers had been on scene all week but noone had foreseen such an incident occurring.

“It’s one of those things, we learn from it and look at better procedures.”
