A woman accused of trying to kill a man known to her, as well as allegedly killing his cat, has been remanded in custody.
Helen-Maree Noon has been charged with attempted murder, enter dwelling with intent, possession of a knife in a public place and serious animal cruelty following the alleged incident at a private property on Victor Street in Grantham on Friday at 4.15am.
It is alleged the 39-year-old woman stabbed a 50-year-old man in the neck, having already killed the cat.
It is understood the cat’s body was dismembered, but police media did not confirm the matter.
The man, who was known to the woman, was rushed to the Prince Alexandra Hospital with a serious neck wound where he remains.
In the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday solicitor Alysha Jacobsen requested a brief adjournment to allow a mental health assessment to be conducted on her client.
The following day, Ms Jacobsen requested a full brief of evidence, with magistrate Kay Philipson adjourning the matter to June 22. No application for bail was made, with Noon remanded in custody.
