Grace Farley died in hospital from injuries sustained in East Toowoomba car crash

The 18-year-old passed away on the weekend after suffering critical injuries when the car she was a passenger crashed into a tree in East Toowoomba.

Friends of deceased teenager Grace Farley are raising funds so her family can return the teenager to her home state of Tasmania for her funeral.

Ms Farley, 18, died at the weekend in hospital after a brave five-week fight for life after she suffered critical injuries when the car she was a passenger in crashed into a tree on Mackenzie Street in East Toowoomba in the early hours of March 25.

Ms Farley and the 20-year-old male driver were transported to Toowoomba Hospital in a critical condition after the crash with Ms Farley eventually transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

Terriann Buchanan set up a GoFundMe page in order to help raise funds to take Grace home for her funeral.

Ms Farley was born in northern Tasmania and grew up in the West Tamar town of Beaconsfield.

“Grace faced a tremendous amount of injuries/battles and continued to beat the odds for five weeks following a horrific car accident in Toowoomba that was no fault of her own,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“Grace fought hard but unfortunately the medical staff later realised after having to amputate her arm hoping it would stop the spread, Grace had an aggressive untreatable infection that was taking over her entire abdomen and spreading rapidly.

“Grace’s family will remain in Brisbane until they can organise to bring Grace home to her family and friends where she belongs.

“We are hoping to assist Grace’s family by raising funds to get them home and to give Grace Farley the beautiful send off she deserves.

“Any donations are appreciated during this unimaginable time.”
