A Gatton man has been accused of the dangerous operation of a vehicle, causing the death of motorcyclist Ian Welldon at Toowoomba in June 2023.
The 49-year-old man was on his way to work when he was fatally struck.
Police allege truck driver Allan John Eveleigh was under the influence of drugs when his heavy vehicle collided with Mr Welldon’s bike on a Wednesday morning at Torrington.
Months following the crash, on the corner of Nugent Pinch Road and Bridge Street, the Toowoomba forensic crash unit charged the 53-year-old with two charges on October 6 – the dangerous operation of vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, and driving with drugs in his system.
Eveleigh’s charges were mentioned before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 17.
The court adjourned the matter for a full committal hand-up on June 17, 2024, when Eveleigh is expected to put forward a non-case submission.
