A 26-year-old Miles man charged with murder arising from the death of a 44-year-old man at the Western Downs town earlier this year has had his case adjourned in Toowoomba Magistrates Court.
Dale Joram Edward Hamilton has been held in custody since his arrest in March and was not required to be in court for the brief mention on Wednesday.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Natalie Bugden said the bulk of the police brief of evidence had been disclosed to the defence but there remained some outstanding material and an adjournment was sort.
Police claim 44-year-old Jonathan Martin sustained chest injuries following what investigators claimed to have been a “neighbourhood dispute” between parties at a Hawkins St address in Miles on the night of Tuesday, March 21.
Detective chief inspector Garry Watts at the time claimed an “ongoing neighbourhood dispute” was at the core of the incident.
Inspector Watts said police would allege Mr Martin and a friend went to the Hawkins St address where an “altercation” erupted and then Mr Martin was subsequently injured.
Mr Hamilton has not as yet been required to enter any plea to the charge of murder.
Magistrate Louise Shephard remanded Mr Hamilton in custody and adjourned the case for committal mention back in the same court on July 26.
