A Tinder date didn’t go to plan for one Toowoomba man earlier this year when he was caught driving on a suspended licence, a court has been told.

Blaise Kiefer Allen appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to two charges of driving while a relevant drug is present in blood or saliva and driving without a licence (SPER suspension).

Police prosecutor Cameron Francis told the court that about 10.20pm on March 29 this year police had stopped Allen driving along Hume Street, and when he provided his driver’s licence it had been suspended as a result of a SPER debt suspension.

“He ... told police that he was just driving to meet a girl for a Tinder date,” he said.

The court was also told Allen had been stopped twice by police in the space of a week in February where he returned positive samples for methylamphetamine on both occasions.

Allen’s solicitor Claire Graham told the court her client was a 29-year-old single father to three children, and had been undergoing rehabilitation to address drug and gambling addictions.

Magistrate Howard Osborne convicted Allen and disqualified him from driving for three months.
