A man has been charged with attempted murder after police allege he ran a driver over and fled in dramatic scenes at the bottom of the Toowoomba Range.
Police claim 46-year-old Rockville man Jonathan Wright deliberately hit a Nissan sedan with his Ute on Sunday afternoon, causing it to crash along Toowoomba Connection Road at Withcott.
When the 33-year-old Nissan driver exited his vehicle, Wright then allegedly hit him with his car and left the scene.
The man was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious head injuries.
Officers took Wright into custody the day following the incident, which forced the closure of the Toowoomba Range for a number of hours.
He has since been charged with attempted murder, two counts of endangering the safety of a person in a vehicle with intent and one count of dangerous operation of motor vehicle.
He remained in the watch house when his matters were mentioned before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.
The court heard Wright’s parole had been suspended so no application for bail would be made at this stage.
Magistrate Clare Kelly therefore remanded Wright in custody and adjourned his matters for mention back in the same court on December 1 when it is expected a bail application will be made.
