A Toowoomba painter and decorator fronted court after he failed to tell police who was driving his car when it allegedly fled from police in February.

Police prosecutor Kinsley Weir said a car registered to Aaron Philip Gamble evaded police at Wilsonton Heights at 2am on February 9.

Prosecutor Weir said the 31-year-old was told he needed to attend a station within 15 days and tell police who had been driving the car, but he failed to do so.

At the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday morning, April 17, Gamble pleaded guilty to failing to give police a statutory declaration in relation to the alleged evade and was fined $1500.

The court heard Gamble planned to tell police who had been driving his car, and that it wasn’t him as he was attending a funeral at the time of the alleged evade.

The court also heard Gamble did not go to the police station because he was dealing with grief, working, and looking after his children.

He said he would attend the station sometime after his court appearance.

Gamble was in court just six months prior, where he was fined $350 and disqualified from driving one month after he pleaded guilty to driving with methamphetamine in his system at Harristown.
