More than 20 charges, mainly drug related, against Toowoomba shooting victim Thor Stephen Morgan have been formally withdrawn by police in the city’s magistrates court.

The 24-year-old, who was shot in the head during an incident on Ruthven St outside Downlands College in the early hours of March 15, was released from hospital in recent weeks after being in a coma with a bullet lodged in his head.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Tim Hutton told the court on Tuesday that Thor Morgan had since unfortunately died and asked that all 25 charges be withdrawn.

Morgan had not been required to enter any pleas to the charges which included drug, weapons, ammunition and traffic matters.

Magistrate Kay Phillipson dismissed all charges.

Upon Mr Morgan’s death last week, police launched a homicide investigation, believing the shooting was targeted and involved at least two people.
