Oakey man Christopher John Wayne Armstrong was jailed for attacking the mother of his children - while he was on probation for assaulting his mother.

At the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday, June 12, Armstrong pleaded guilty to 22 crimes which included; domestic violence assault which caused bodily harm, drug possession, driving with meth and weed in his system, evading police, and possession of a knife and taser.

Magistrate Kay Philipson said Armstrong was a “serial domestically violent person”.

“Your behaviour is appalling towards your family, your mother, your sisters, and your ex-partner,” she continued.

Magistrate Philipson said the 29-year-old was on a probation order for attacking his mother when he continued to commit violent acts of domestic violence.

“I consider that sentences of imprisonment are warranted for most of the offence committed since (a) probation order was imposed, and you continued to go on the abuse those who love in an appalling way,” she said.

Police prosecutor senior sergeant Chris Willson said on one occasion, Armstrong verbally abused his ex-partner before putting her in a “bear hug” and throwing her to the ground.

“I will drill you c—t,” he told her while pretending to punch her in the face as she lay on the ground.

The woman had abrasions to her back and torso following the attack.

Magistrate Philipson told Armstrong if he did not address his anger issues and drug use, he would find himself imprisoned for “longer and longer periods” of time.

“The community and myself are sick of people like you, thinking you can go out there and abuse those who care about you and are trying to protect you.

“Your mother still clearly supports you, she’s sitting in the back of the court, but I just hope that you treat her with more respect in the future because I otherwise fear for her safety.

“What kind of an example do you think you are setting for those (boys’) future?”

Armstrong replied, “not a good one your honour”.

Armstrong was sentenced to a six month jail term and had his license suspended for two years.

At the time of Armstrong’s sentence, he had spent 53 days in custody, which was declared as time served.

He will be released on parole on June 20, 2023.

The court heard the former coal seam gas worker intended to work at a Cecil Plains sawmill upon his release.
