A court has been told a Toowoomba man who was recently released on bail for alleged domestic crimes has again been arrested, this time for allegedly assaulting, stalking, and choking the same ex-partner.

Joshua Robert Mills appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court via video from the watch-house on Friday afternoon, March 24, when he made an application for bail.

The court was told the Ipswich-born man was on bail when he was arrested for assault occasioning bodily harm, choking suffocation strangulation, and stalking.

The alleged offences were committed against Mr Mills’ ex-partner and although he made admissions to the stalking charge, which involved him tracking the woman’s car, he denied the alleged acts of violence.

Police prosecutor Leea Trewin said police strongly opposed the 32-year-old’s bail application.

Magistrate Clair Kelly agreed with police given the “very serious” nature of the charges and stated the dad was a “clear risk” to the alleged victim, and bail was refused.

Ms Kelly said Mr Mills was already on strict bail conditions which included an ankle monitoring device at the time of the new alleged offences, and that there were no othfer conditions she could impose to safeguard the woman.

The court was told Mr Mills employed three workers through his business, JanN Construction, and he was the sole carer of his five-year-old son, who sadly had none else to care for him.

Mr Mills was remanded in custody and his charges were adjourned to link up with his other matters which are to be heard on April 13.
