With 11 podium finishes in his first 12 starts this series, Will Brown heads north for the NTI Townsville 500 in red hot form.
It is a historic start for Brown at Triple Eight with the 26-year-old currently leading the V8 Supercars Championship series ahead of teammate Broc Feeney.
Driving for Erebus Motorsport Brown won the first race in Townsville last season and the Toowoomba motorsport ace has plenty of other history on his side.
Last year was only the third time in history that Triple Eight have not won in Townsville with the team having won 22 of the 38 races in north Queensland since 2009.
“I think the team’s really ready for the fuel races, you know, we want to do that,” Brown said. “The two stops is always awesome, adding the fuel element and adding the longer race always makes it a bit more exciting.
“I had a great result here last year winning the first race so that’s positive and had a really good start to the year.
So hopefully we can make this weekend a big one.”
Despite his and his team’s dominant form this season Brown said they will approach the round just like they do any other.
Consistency is the key according to the young star.
“It’s always a tough one. You have one good round, then you go, oh, well, let’s make sure we have another good round next one, but you’ve got to have 12,” Brown said.
“So ultimately, each weekend we prep the same, we come here to try and win a race and hopefully we can do that.”
