We reveal the top junior cricketers in Toowoomba
With cricket being added as an Olympic sport from 2028 we have named Toowoomba’s best young cricketers who could one day bat and bowl for gold.

Toowoomba has long been a hotbed for talented junior cricketers to develop their craft and with the recent announcement that cricket will be added to the Olympic Games from 2028, we shine a light on some of the best young cricketers in the Garden City who could one day be competing at the Olympics.

Kaiden Philp
Philp is an emerging talent with the ball and had made his presence felt in B-grade this year.
He is currently playing both senior and junior cricket and was one of the best performers across the TCI in round 2 when he took 4-3 off six overs in a dominant display against Highfields.
Daniel Giumelli
Giumelli is a 13-year-old leg-spinner who is working his magic in C-grade for Northern Brothers.
Throughout the last two seasons, he has taken 17 scalps at an average of 26.47 and has also proven to be a handy batter with an impressive average of 29.55.
Amelia Kuhn
Kuhn has been in fine form for the Toowoomba Girls Cricket Hub this campaign and has taken seven wickets at an average of 10.86, with best figures of 4-15.
With the bat, she has already notched up a half century this season as she scored an unbeaten 59 against Met-Easts.
Kuhn recently played for the 13 years schoolgirls Darling Downs team and is an all-rounder with a great technique and superb hand-eye coordination.
Jess Johnston
Jess Johnston comes from the famous Darling Downs Johnston cricket family and is the younger sister of current Brisbane Heat player Ellie Johnston.
She recently played for the under-13 Darling Downs team and is a classy all-rounder with a solid technique.
Samuel Monk
Monk is a 15-year-old who has taken the competition by storm this season for the Northern Brothers Diggers.
In his seven games across various grades, he has scored 238 runs and been dismissed only once.
Monk has so far batted five times this year and each time he has scored more than 40 runs with two half centuries at junior level the highlights.
He is no slouch with the ball either as he took 4-22 last week against the Uni Bush Chooks in C-grade.
Nicolene Snyman
At just 16 years of age, Snyman has recently returned from representing Australia in the U17 Indoor Cricket World Cup.
She has made South Queensland sides and is currently plying her trade for Wests in Brisbane.
The right-arm pace bowler can generate plenty of swing and is also solid with the bat.
Fraser Judd
Judd is a scintillating young gun from Western Districts who captained the Toowoomba U15 rep side to victory in the Steketee Cup this season.
This season alone, he has scored four centuries including a monster 153 from 116 balls against South Burnett in the Steketee Cup.
Despite his age, Judd already has experience playing at senior level and has proven he is more than capable competing against older opposition as he scored 53 in Gladstone last year.
The Toowoomba Falcons junior rep captain has previous rep experience with Central Queensland, Gladstone, Capricornia and the Queensland Schoolboys’ teams making Judd a player to watch in the years to come.
Aaron Convery
Convery has been a sensation coming out of the Northern Brothers Diggers A-grade side this season with 202 runs at an average of 67.1.
He has scored two half centuries and carried his bat to victory in his side’s win over Souths last weekend.
Convery has also been a part of the U17 Taverners side this season as an opening batter.
Joe Roberts
Roberts recently joined University from Dalby this season and is already making his mark in the TCI.
After a solid start in B-grade, he is now playing reserves and it won’t be long until he makes his A-grade debut.
Roberts scored an impressive 55 on his debut for the club and has also proven to be a handy option with the ball.
Henry Maunder
Maunder is a promising prospect who has gone from playing C-grade to Reserve grade for Uni this season.
The middle-order batter has scored 199 runs at an average of 33.17 this year and has scored two 50s for U15 rep sides already.
Beau Harvey
Harvey has started the season strongly with the bat and has also shown his class as a bowler as well.
He has played four games in B-grade for Uni and has claimed five wickets at an average of 29.
In his three stints with the bat, he has scored 51 runs without being dismissed.
Dom Seaby
Seaby is a solid all-rounder who impressed with the bat for the Darling Downs U13 rep side last season.
Despite his age, he already has an impressive amount of rep experience and is currently playing for Met-Easts in B-grade.
He was a key member of the Toowoomba U15 Steketee Cup team to begin the season and scored an impressive 54 against South Burnett.
Jackson Haynes
Met-Easts’ Haynes is another U15 player in Toowoomba who is tearing it up with the bat this season.
From 11 matches, he has scored 459 runs at an incredible average of 41.73.
This season alone he has scored four 50s as well as a stunning century in his most recent innings.
With the ball, he has been just as effective and taken 12 wickets at 16.08 with best figures of 3-28.
Rhys Johnston
Johnston is another Met-Easts B-grader who is making his mark in rep cricket.
Once he gets his eye in, he can be a dangerous player who change the game and has a top score of 45 this season, which came against the Sunshine Coast in the U17 Taverners competition.
Carter Llewellyn
Llewellyn has made the step up to B-grade this season for Met-Easts after dominating at junior level last season.
In 14 games he scored 612 runs at a monster average of 87.43 with a top score of 98.
Of those 14 games, four were for the Toowoomba U13 rep side where he scored three unbeaten 50s and averaged 190.
Henry Steer
Henry Steer is another player who is coming through the ranks at Western Districts who has experience playing at rep level with Toowoomba and Darling Downs.
Steer is a solid contributor with the bat and scored 41 runs against University in B-grade last season.
He has a career batting average of 23.13 with a highest score of 60.
Tom Steer
Steer has been a key player for Western Districts and has an impressive batting average of 27.52.
With the ball, he has been menacing and averages 11.56.
Harley Warrener
Warrener is currently playing for the ladder-leading Wests A-grade team as well as the Valley District U17 team and the U21 Darling Downs and South West Queensland sides.
He has an impressive batting average of 26.46 and a bowling average 22.5.
Lachlan Ottobrino
Ottobrino is a promising talent who has started the season strongly in the Steketee Cup and in B-grade for Wests.
This season alone, he ha scored 232 runs at an average of 29 and has a top score of 39, which came against the Wide Bay U15 team.
Cameron Dennis
Dennis is a consistent all-rounder who is currently playing for Wests and playing rep cricket as well.
Averaging U21 with the bat and 19 with the ball, Dennis is a reliable contributor in both facets of the game.
Connor Ward
Ward was another pivotal player for Toowoomba’s Steketee Cup side as showed his class with the ball.
This season alone, Ward has taken 16 wickets at an average of 14.75, with best figures of 3-10, which came against Uni in B-grade.
Ward was also a part of the Darling Downs Bulls Masters side this year.
Cooper van der Linden
Van der Linden is currently playing in Reserve and B-grade for Western Districts and is an exciting up and coming bowler.
The Warriors bowler showed he has what it takes to compete at senior level as he took 3-24 in his side’s win over Highfields in B-grade in round 4.
Nayte Baker
Baker is the youngest member of the Western Districts senior squad and has shown he is not out of his depth competing against adults.
In his three games this season, he has scored 71 runs in the top order at an average of 23.67.
He put in an impressive display in his B-grade debut as he scored 39 runs as opener to help lay down the foundations for his side to claim the win.
Riley Canning
Canning recently turned 16 and is set for a big season with Highfields and Districts Railways Cricket Club.
He has experience playing for the Darling Downs and South West Queensland junior rep side and has made the step up to A-grade this season after previously playing in B-grade.
He is dangerous with the ball and has career-high figures of 8-12.
Josh Cranston
Josh Cranston is a young gun who is currently making his presence felt in A-grade for Highfields and in the U16 Brisbane Metropolitan Cricket competition for Wynnum Manly.
The opening batter has scored two 50s this season and made 261 runs in all competitions at an average of 29.
Connor Cranston
Connor Cranston has pushed his way from B-grade through to A-grade in the last 12 months thanks to some promising performances for Highfields.
So far this season he has had limited opportunities to showcase his ability but when given the chance, which he was last season, he was an important member of his side.
Jack Ragh
Ragh is currently plying his trade for Highfields and the Warwick Hotel Colts and has shown impressive signs with the bat and ball throughout his career.
He scored a century in the Warwick cricket competition last season and has continued that form into this year with a string of strong performances to start the new campaign.
Throughout his career, Ragh has claimed 161 wickets at an average of 13.27 and averages 23.42 with the bat.
Harry Town
Town is a promising talent coming out of the fertile Highfields junior program and is an exciting bowler who has been a consistent performer at rep level.
In his nine Under-15 rep games last season, Town claimed nine wickets at an average of 23.86
Gurnoor Randhawa
Randhawa is a dangerous opening batter in the Souths’ A-grade side.
Having broken into the top team last year, it did not take him long to have an impact at the top level as he scored an unbeaten half century against Northern Brothers in just his third game of A-grade.
He has previously played for the Darling Dingoes in the Brisbane Premier League and is also currently captaining the U17 Darling Downs Taverners side.
With the ball he is also a solid spin bowler who can chip in and break partnerships.
Anthony Bowles
Bowles is a lightning quick left-arm pace bowler who strikes fear into opposition batters.
The young pace bowler has played for both Toowoomba and Darling Downs rep youth teams and has been a key contributor for Souths as well.
Dominic Marsh
Marsh is a right-arm pace bowler for Souths who can also score handy runs in the middle order.
The all-rounder was a consistent contributor in junior and C-grade competitions last season and also represented the Toowoomba U15 side.
Baxter Tzannes
Tzannes is an emerging talent in Reserve grade for the Magpies.
He recently scored an impressive 74 against Northern Brothers Diggers and has also proven to be a solid option to turn to with the ball as well.
