Round 8 of the AFLQ Darling Downs competition brought out some stellar performances with some of the region’s juggernauts claiming statement wins as we approach the midway point in the season.

Check out the top players from the senior men’s, senior women’s, under-12 and under-14 here.

Charles Barwick (South Toowoomba U12)

Barwick was a class above in the Bombers’ emphatic victory over the Goondiwindi Hawks.

With six goals, Barwick was an unstoppable force in the forward line and one of the most dangerous players across all competitions in round 8.

Dieume Antoine (University U12)

Antoine shone for the Cougars with four goals and was also named best on ground in a scintillating all-round performance.

Daniel Napier (University U12)

While Antoine stole the show, Napier was also a thorn in the side of the Tigers as he kicked two majors.

Jonah Greenaway (South Toowoomba U14)

In a difficult clash for the Bombers, Greenaway stood tall and kicked a crucial early goal to keep his side in the contest in the first half.

Rhys Branson (Coolaroo U14)

Branson’s impressive season continued as he was named best on ground for Coolaroo.

He has now featured in Coolaroo’s best players in four of his five games this season and has proven you don’t need to kick goals to be a game-changer for your team.

Mylo Slyderink (Coolaroo U14)

In a low-scoring contest, Slyderink led the way for the Roos with three goals to help his side to a 37-7 win.

Ashley Harley (University men)

Harley was near unstoppable as he put the Redbacks to the sword.

He spearheaded the Cougars attack and kicked a bag of five goals.

Nicholas Donges and Brendan Iles (Redbacks men)

While it wasn’t enough to guide Warwick to victory, Iles and Donges were a class above in the forward line as they kicked three goals each.

Bradley Harrison (South Toowoomba men)

Harrison guided the Bombers to a crucial win over Goondiwindi with three goals.

Morgan Prior (South Toowoomba women)

While it ultimately wasn’t enough to come away with the win, Prior did all she could to keep the Bombers in the contest in their 10-point loss to the Hawks.

Prior was one of the standout players for South Toowoomba and kicked a team-high two goals.

Sharon Stoutt (Hawks women)

Stoutt was a class above for Goondiwindi, helping them to a thrilling win over South Toowoomba with a best on ground performance.

Laura Mitton (Hawks women)

Mitton came up clutch for the Hawks with a pivotal goal and was a perennial threat throughout the game.

Lara Paget (Tigers women)

With every passing week, Paget continues to prove why she is one of the elite forwards in the women’s competition.

Against South Burnett, the leading goalkicker booted a sensational bag of six goals to help the Tigers to an emphatic victory.

Madeleine Moon (Tigers women)

Moon was at her explosive best for Toowoomba, kicking four goals in a player of the match performance.

Nelly Bruce (Tigers women)

Bruce’s electric season for the Tigers continued on Saturday as she kicked three goals to take her season tally to 23.

Charli Martain (University women)

Martain had a breakout game for University as she kicked four goals against Coolaroo.

Kati Wright (University women)

The Cougars’ key forward was unstoppable as she booted four majors and was named in her side’s best players.

Nyengela Mwajuma (University women)

Mwajuma was everywhere for University with a strong all-round game.

She was named best on ground and chipped in with a goal as well.
