We have reached the halfway point in the junior cricket season and the diamonds within Toowoomba’s junior cricket system have emerged.
From Stage 1 to Stage 3, we have analysed all five junior grades to reveal our team of the season so far.
See which juniors have lit up the Garden City in the first half of the campaign in our dream team here.
1. Daniel Giumelli (Northern Brothers)
Giumelli kicks off this dream team as opening batter after a stellar start to his junior season, while also juggling games at the senior level as well.
He has scored 168 runs at an average of 168 in Stage 3 and posted two half centuries in five innings.
2. Liam Burges (Souths)
There are few players who have had an answer for Burges as he has left his opponents shellshocked.
His bowling has been impressive - seven wickets at an average of 5 - but it is his batting which has been in another stratosphere.
In five games, he has scored 304 runs at a superb average of 152 with a top score of 124 not out.
Burges was simply phenomenal on the way to a century in round 2 as he struck the ball at 243.13, hitting 12 sixes and nine fours.
3. Amelia Kuhn (Toowoomba Girls Cricket Hub)
Whether it is with the Gold Coast Dolphins, Darling Downs and South West Queensland, or the Toowoomba Girls Cricket Hub, Kuhn is always one to watch with bat and ball and this season has been no different.
In the Stage 2 Red competition, she has scored 167 runs at an average of 167 with a top score of 53, while taking four wickets for good measure.
4. Harrison Barbe (Wests)
Barbe has scored 131 runs at an average of 131 and a top score of 72 in just four innings.
He has shown various levels to his game, as he scored a patient 15 not out from 39 balls against Highfields, but is also capable of striking above 150 as he scored an unbeaten 43 against Met-Easts from 25 balls and his 72 against TGCH came off just 33 balls.
5. Emmy Cussons (Toowoomba Girls Cricket Hub)
Another standout performer in the Girls Cricket Hub, Cussons has scored 154 runs at an average of 154 and a top score of 72.
She has scored two half centuries and boast a strike rate of more than 135.
6. Charlie French (Pittsworth Millmerran)
French has been in fine form to begin the Stage 2 Red season with 154 runs at an average of 77 and a top score of 42.
The young batter wastes no time in making an impact on the scoreboard, operating at a strike rate of 133.91.
7. Reyaaz Nagarkoti (Souths)
Nagarkoti has been the ultimate all-round threat in the opening month of the season.
With the bat, he has scored 142 runs at an average of 47.33 and a top score of 62.
Nagarkoti has also been one of the most lethal bowlers in all of Toowoomba junior cricket, claiming 10 wickets at a sensational average of just 4.6.
8. Charles Peart (Met-Easts)
Peart has been a weapon with the ball, taking 12 scalps in all competitions at an average of 5.83.
He has been an ever reliable competitor with the ball, taking at least two wickets in every inning with best figures of 3-7 from four overs.
He has also provided solid runs, as he has surpassed 20 runs in three of his four stints for the Trojans.
9. Cameron Collingwood (Souths)
Collingwood has been the leading wicket taker in Toowoomba junior cricket so far with 12 wickets at an average of 6.42.
His bowling has been a class above and Pittsworth batters had no answer for him when they faced off as he took 5-12 off four overs.
10. Adrian Jones (Highfields)
Adrian Jones has proven he can do it all with bat, ball and in the field but it is his bowling specifically that earns him a spot in this team.
He has picked up at least one wicket in all five games and was on an absolute tear in a two game stretch against Souths and Met Easts, where he took combined figures of 7-31.
Jones has asserted himself as one of the most dangerous bowlers in the competition, with 11 wickets at an average of 5.27.
11. Kai Edwards (Highfields)
One of the most consistent operators in junior cricket at the moment, Edwards has taken two wickets in all five of his games and has a very impressive bowling average of 3.7.
12th man. Xavier Carson (Souths)
Carson is very unfortunate to not earn a spot in the starting line-up having impressed with bat and ball this season.
He has scored 164 runs with a top score of 40 and been electric with the ball, taking 11 wickets at an average of 8.09.
