Grand final fever is set to hit the region with the Toowoomba Rugby League grand finals taking place at Clive Berghofer Stadium this Saturday.
Across the four grand finals, Toowoomba Valleys Roosters will be a prominent side with three grades eyeing off the holy grail.
Valleys’ Under-19, Reserve and A-grade men’s teams will be in action this weekend and club president Gary de Joux was proud of the efforts from his club this campaign.
“It is always a good thing to have so many teams represented,” he said.
“Being involved in such a prestigious and successful club, our members expect success, so this year we have delivered.”
De Joux praised the performance of the coaching staff on all levels which has been vital for the Roosters’ grand final runs.
“There is no doubt that our coaching staff in all our grades have done a tremendous job this year,” he said.
“It is a club effort; it is not individual … every team has been successful as a result of everyone’s hard work and there has been a lot of hard work done behind the scenes this year in particular.”
After dominant seasons in the A-Grade and Under-19 Men’s competitions, which saw Valleys take home the minor premierships, De Joux praised the depth of his side which has been a pivotal factor to their success.
“Winning premierships is not easy, getting to grand finals is not easy and I know that from my time involved in the Toowoomba Rugby League,” he said.
“You need to cherish those moments when they do come along, they are very hard to get into and you always need a little bit of luck to go your way to be successful and achieve the ultimate goal on grand final day.
“The depth of our club has really helped us this year and with a little luck and with the depth of the club we have been successful but without the depth it certainly would have been difficult.”
The first grand final will be the Under 19 Men’s which will see Valleys face-off with Highfields at 1pm.
This will then be followed by the A-Grade Women at 2.45pm which will be contested by Newtown and Gatton.
The day will conclude with the Men’s Reserves and A Grade grand finals between Valleys and Dalby, which will kick-off at 4.30pm and 6.30pm.
