WEIGHTLIFTING: Olivia Kelly has a crystal clear picture of what success will look like for her at the World Weightlifting Championships.
The 28-year-old however is not willing to share that vision just yet for fear of jinxing her preparation for the December championships in Bogota, Colombia.
“I know exactly what numbers I’d like to hit and how I’d like to lift at the championships,” Kelly said.
“I don’t want to say it out loud right now though. I don’t want to risk jinxing anything.
“One thing I will say though is I want to come away from the championships being able to show all the hard work and time I’ve put into training and competing.”
Regardless of what Kelly says, she will carry form and confidence into the championships.
The CrossFit Highfields owner set multiple records at the Queensland State Weightlifting Titles last weekend.
“It was a great day in the office,” Kelly, who competed in the 76kg women’s division, said.
“I set a Queensland record with my 97kg snatch, Australian records with my 122kg clean and jerk and my 219kg total (highest snatch and clean and jerk lifts combined) and I was named best female lift
“We (Kelly and her coach Jax Solofa) were using the titles as my last competitive prep before worlds.
“To beat the Australian record I held and to win was amazing.”
