FOOTBALL: Chris Hatfield is backing his side to record a third straight win on Saturday June 2.

The South West Queensland Thunder striker says a new attitude and energy has the squad primed for an attack on the top half of the NPL table.

"I think the attitude and the energy has turned around 360 degrees in the past few weeks,” Hatfield said.

"It's been positive but it's almost completely different now.

"You can see it at training - everyone is showing up a little earlier, working a little harder - and you can see it when we play.

"It was little disheartening when we were playing so well and not getting the results.

"But now we're playing well and we've strung some wins together.”

Hatfield said the team's new found chemistry was also key to their recent results.

"Changing the way we set up and defend has made a big difference,” Hatfield said.

"Keagan (Sheridan), Frederico (Brusaca) and Jacob (Bigby) have been great at the back for us.

"But just as important is our chemistry. Those three work great together which gives us confidence.

"And personally I'm really enjoying playing alongside Anthony Grant - he's a great player and we work well together.

"Then we have guys like Daniel Weber coming off the bench for us. He's only 17 but he's a fantastic weapon for us.

"Those bonds are really helping the team.”

The Thunder play host to Brisbane City FC tonight - a side they beat 3-2 earlier this season.

Despite the positive result the Thunder will not take the game or their opposition lightly.

"We're confident and we want to keep winning but we're not taking the game lightly,” Hatfield said.

"We will treat them with the respect they deserve

"Every game is important - they're like six pointers because the competition is so tight.”

KICK OFF: The match at Clive Berghofer Stadium starts at 5pm.
