FOOTBALL: The South West Queensland Thunder men turned their focus inward this week.
Frustrated after their 5-0 defeat to Olympic FC, the men believe they only have themselves to blame.
"We were very competitive for 30-40 minutes of the game last week,” Thunder official Jason Hall said.
"I think we played some really good football in the game.
"We just lost our focus a little and it cost us.
"There's nothing we have to specifically improve. We just need to tighten things up across the park.”
The Thunder will not switch off or take their opponent lightly today, though.
"North Queensland are a bit of unknown,” Hall said.
"They have taken over from the Fury up there and have picked up a few of their players.
"We're focused on playing our game but we know we can't take them lightly.
"We learned plenty from the Olympic game and we will have to play good football if we want to win.”
Despite having plenty of attacking power at their disposal, including the return of Travis Cooper from injury, Hall said defence would still be a key focus.
"We're aware we need to tighten up or defence,” he said. "Even in the game we won we know we let a few goals in. It's an area we want to improve.”
FIRST HOME GAME: The Thunder's match at Clive Berghofer, their first home game of the season, kicks off at 5pm.
