CRICKET: Met-Easts will carry their red-hot form into the TCI two-day A-grade grand final this weekend after a dominant 285 run win.
The Trojans put the Magpies to the sword in a one sided affair after a fantastic all-round team performance.
Sent into bat after losing the toss, Mets declared at 9-346 at the end of day one.
Souths collapsed under the pressure of well-round bowling attack led by Dan Pollock and were all out for 61.
“We batted really well and set up a really good platform,” Met-Easts captain Pollock said.
“We buried them on the first day.
“When we sent them in to bat we got an inkling right away that they were looking to force the draw.
“Everyone was on and we just bowled really well and in good areas.
“We had 100 overs to bowl them out so we knew if we just kept it tight and kept on the pressure we’d get the result.”

Result: 149 & 0-45 vs 69
In another dominate display Met-Easts made light work of a strong Wests side booking their place in the final against Souths this weekend.
Winning by 80 runs in what was almost a repeat of last year’s grand final, Met-Easts put on a bowling clinic.
After their team scored 149 in their first innings, Kharn Millward and Darryl Petit tore through Wests batting line-up
“Thanks to key partnerships from Andrew (Young) and Ross (Milton) in the middle and Paul (Toohey) and Ben (Jeffery) towards the tail we had a defendable total on the board,” Met-Easts player Jacob Fry said.
With only one player scoring in the double digits, Wests couldn’t cope with Met-Easts relentless good length bowling and pressure.
Sent back in to bat, Met-Easts decided to bat Wests out of the game with Matty Boyle and Jacob Fry standing firm at the crease, both ending the match not-out after facing 25 overs.
