We have ranked three players from every team who will shape their side’s campaigns this season.
Metropolitan Easts
Kyle Tonkin
Tonkin has the ability to take crucial wickets with his difficult seaming deliveries. He is also a handy batsmen that can get aggressive and put on a show.
Lachlan Evans
Towering over his opponents at 203cm, Evans uses his height to his advantage when he opens the side’s bowling attack. His great pace and height pose a difficult and unique challenge to batsmen.
Ben Brocherie
An all-rounder, who is mostly used as his team’s leggy. He gets great turn which makes it hard batsmen to pick-up the delivery. He has shown great improvement for a young player and is capable of pitching in with the bat when it’s required.
Northern Brothers Diggers
Cody Walker
Walker is a top order batsmen, usually filling the number four slot. If he can carry his Twenty20 form across to the two-day competition he will be a key player. Walker is regarded as a very competent longer form player who can ‘bat long’ when required.
Aidan Watterson
The bowling all-rounder returns after a five-year stint playing the Brisbane A-grade competition. Watterson is a player that does a bit of everything and regularly bats in the middle order at number five.
Jordan Sondergeld
One of the team’s opening bowlers and their main strike weapon. Sondergeld is a young player that can bowl some serious heat and threaten opposing batsmen.
Southern District Magpies
Rohan Drummond
The captain and top order batsmen significantly influences his side through his batting and fielding efforts. He can bat for time and just as easily score quickly if required.
Joel Bock
Capable of scoring runs all over the ground, Bock is a top order batsmen and handy leggy.
He regularly puts together handy spells with the ball and is a key player if the side needs to move the game forward.
Liam White
The opening bowler’s combination of pace and accuracy make him a nightmare for opposing batsmen. White can quickly make inroads into any batting line-up he faces and has the unique skill of generating movement with both a new and old ball.
University
Dean Sullivan
He’s had a great few years behind the stumps and has been brilliant as the opening batsmen in recent times.
Hemal Shah
A reliable spinner and a handy contributor with the bat, Shah has had a great few seasons. Can reliably hold down an end and work with his quicks. He was the player of the year in Toowoomba last year.
Michael Evans
Will be relied upon to take wickets this season, he has shown glimpses in the T20 competition and club officials are hoping he can carry over this form and continue is damaging medium pacers.
Western Districts
Chaz Cheatley
The talented all-rounder is also his side’s first change bowler. Is a very reliable middle order batter that scores handy runs and is the heart of the team.
Michael Dowe
Dowe leads by example spearheading his side’s bowling attack.
Dan Robinson
A middle order bat that has the skill to up the scoring rate if required.
Really capitalises on the flow of the game and is a weapon in the field.
Highfields Railways Bulldogs
Andre Odendaal
The Zimbabwean import is often described as Highfields’ very own Mitch Starc.
A very quick left arm seamer, he’s not to shabby with the bat, having recently scored 96.
Dan Anderson
One of the side’s opening bowlers, the right arm quick also bats in the top four. A quality team player that the side love and enjoy playing with. Anderson has been putting in the hours at the nets, looking to reap the rewards this season.
Harry Meiklejohn
A young player and new to the club, Meiklejohn is an opening batsmen that has performed very well so far notching up a few 50s. He is another all-rounder that usually bowls first or second change.
