RUGBY LEAGUE: The Gold Coast Titans will welcome back two key players for their clash against the St George Illawarra Dragons.
Toowoomba's Ashley Taylor and Queensland Maroons star Jarrod Wallace will feature for the Titans in their historic clash at Clive Berghofer Stadium.
Such is the passion and desire of the pair, Titans coach Garth Brennan was unable to repeat their responses to media when asked if the duo was keen to play this weekend.
Brennan said Taylor still had some work to do on the training paddock but believed he would be right to play.
"He's still not out of the woods yet. He's still got a bit of training to do between now and Sunday. We'll see how he progresses,” Brennan said.
"If he's 100% he'll play; if he's not he won't.
"He's very keen to get back in front of his family and friends.
"He's doing everything he possibly can to get back on the park.”
Alongside Taylor, Brennan believes the return of prop Jarrod Wallace will provide a massive boost to his young side.
"We're a young side there's no doubt about that and inexperienced,” Brennan said.
"To have a State of Origin player to come back into your team can only boost.
"We can't afford to have Origin quality players on our sideline. We need them out on the park.
"He's hungry, very determined they're (Taylor and Wallace) both firing and ready to go.”
Brennan said the Titans would need to be wary of a quality Dragons but remained focused firmly on themselves.
"They're playing really well, they're very strong right across the park.
"We're under no illusions; they're strong side right across but we've got to worry more about ourselves than the Dragons.”
