The Western Clydesdales BMD side have further bolstered their stocks with another big-name signing to add to an already stacked roster ahead of their inaugural game this weekend.
Sydney Roosters, New South Wales and Jillaroos hooker Keeley Davis has joined the Clydesdales and will bring a mix of youth and experience to the team.
Despite having years of rep football and NRLW experience under her belt, she is still just 23 years of age and will bring an exciting spark to the team.
“It is a great addition to our team to have Keeley join us this season,” Clydesdales coach Mitch Sargent said.
“Keeley will bring not only tremendous performances on the field, but as a person around the team, she will add that special touch so we are really excited to have her join us.”
Davis made her NRLW debut for St George Illawarra in 2018 and went on to make her Test debut for Australia later that same year.
She also brings Origin experience, having broken into the New South Wales side in 2021.
“Keeley has got that absolute drive and passion that our local players will learn off and feed off,” Sargent said.
“You can’t beat enthusiasm and experience and Keeley will bring that to our team and teach our local players what it takes to be the current Australian and New South Wales hooker.”
The Clydesdales now have a perfect mix of youth and experience and an abundance of NRLW talent with more than 10 players in the team coming from either an NRLW team or NRLW pathways program.
With Australian rugby league icons Steph Hancock, Kezie Apps and Ali Brigginshaw leading the way, along with the new generation of superstars like Davis and Shenae Ciesiolka, the Clydesdales are set to be more than just a force to be reckoned with in 2024.
Davis and the Western Clydesdales will be in action this Saturday when they take on the Central Queensland Capras at Clive Berghofer Stadium for their inaugural BMD Premiership game.
