FOOTBALL: Liz Hollitt and Chris Hatfield played very different roles for the South West Queensland Thunder this year.
Marquee-signing Hatfield was bought in to provide goals and an attacking threat.
Hollitt on the other hand was the Thunder women's literal last line of defence - a determined goalkeeper shutting down attacking raids and marshalling her side's defence.
Both share an honour in common though after the pair was named in their respective Football Queensland NPL teams of the season.
Hatfield's 10 goals, four of which received NPLQ Goal of the Month awards, earned him a spot on the right wing in a 3-4-3 formation.
The striker was the Thunder's second highest goal scorer behind Anthony Grant.
Hollitt was selected in the NPLW QLD side as reserve goalkeeper behind The Gap's Noran Abaza.
The Thunder had plenty of goals scored against them but Hollitt was a standout none the less.
When the games were tight it was in no small part due to the heroics of Hollitt.
A great shot blocker and experienced head in a young defence, Hollitt showed real courage this season while battling injury.
