RUGBY UNION: Toowoomba is set for a visit from rugby union royalty next month.
Former Wallabies skipper John Eales will be guest speaker at Downlands College's Wake Up With The Wallabies breakfast alongside former teammate Tim Horan who will act as MC.
The pair will also be joined by another Wallabies teammate and current Downlands First XV rugby coach Garrick Morgan.
"As far as the Wallabies go I don't think you could find a better pair,” Downlands Rugby Committee member Jason Edge said.
"John is arguably the Wallabies' greatest ever captain.
"And Tim, at his peak, was one of the greatest centres in the world.
"It's a real coup to have John and Tim headlining the breakfast.
"I think it's going to be a fantastic event.”
Edge said the appearance of Eales was in part because of his friendship with Morgan.
"Garrick played alongside John and Tim during his rugby career and they knew each other through the Wallabies,” Edge said.
"He (Garrick) is friends with John and we approached him to see if he would interested.
"Tim is a Toowoomba boy and former Downlands student who has always been a big supporter of these type of events.
"They're both inspirational people and have enjoyed success on and off the field and I'm sure everyone will enjoy listening to them speak.”
The breakfast serves as precursor to one of Toowoomba rugby's biggest events - the O'Callaghan Cup clash between Toowoomba Grammar School and Downlands College.
Tickets are available for the July 20 event now.
