Redemption on the cards for Thunder women

FOOTBALL: The South West Queensland Thunder women will play with determination in their hearts.

Captain Mel Lloyd said her side was eager to atone for their last performance against tomorrow's opponents Gold Coast.

"The last time we played them was probably one of our poorest performances,” Lloyd said.

"We made a lot of errors and we weren't fully committed. It was a bad game for us.

"The whole team is determined to make up for that last game against them.”

That attitude will be key for the team now and in the future according to Lloyd.

"It's been a tough season but the mood has always been a positive one,” she said.

"The vibe at training is always good and everyone is committed to the team.

"There's a fair bit of an age gap between some of the senior players like myself and the younger girls.

"But they're just as committed as anyone. The positive is they love the challenge of playing in the senior team.

"Our under-17 team is doing really well at the moment and it'd be easy for them to drop back to that side.

"But they've stepped up and they love testing themselves at the higher level.”

GAME DAY: The Thunder women play Gold Coast tomorrow at Station Reserve. Kick-off is 5.30pm.
