If Queensland champions Logan Thunder are to win the Basketball Australia U14 Club Championships in Melbourne, then it will have to come down to a collective team effort.

But that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for a bit of individual flair as well.

The Thunder, who pulled off an incredible feat to win the Basketball Queensland’s U14 State Championships after trailing at halftime, have Nahla Moka, the niece of Boomers superstar Patty Mills, in their ranks.

And the 11-year-old could make a real impact.

“For us to compete we do have to play as a team and bring that team aspect, but on that note, Nahla Moke is probably the one that will step up,” said head coach Jordan Chambers.

“She’s a bottom-ager, but she’s a competitor.”

Moke has already won three national school sport titles in 2024 in Australian rules football, netball and basketball.

Ahead of their opening game against Darwin Cyclones on Sunday, Chambers believes her team’s motto would be all they need to get through a difficult pool and into medal contention.

“Our motto going down there is one day, one game at a time and see where that takes us,” she said

“I think (our strength) it’s our willingness to keep competing even when it gets tough.

“Both of our state finals ... we came back from a deficit.

“We’re really willing to fight, which I think for me, is why I’m most proud of them as well.”

Thunder face the Cyclones in the first round before facing Victorian club Frankston Blues and then South Australian visitor Sturt Sabres.

Despite seeded as Queensland’s top side following their state champs success, there is no easy games when it comes to the national stage.

“It’s a bit different down there (in Victoria), I feel like it’s a step up in competition,” Chambers said.

Only time will tell if Logan Thunder has what it takes.
