Two-time Australian champion win Echo Valley race in style

MOTOCROSS: Dean Ferris conquered the peaks and troughs of Toowoomba's Echo Valley in style yesterday.

The two-time Australian Motocross champion was dominate on his way to claiming the Mountain Man title - leading from start to finish.

"The track was amazing. I love coming here to Toowoomba," Ferris said.

"My first year in Mountain Man was perfect, I got all the hole shots and won all four motos so it was a perfect day."

Ferris said the ideal plan was to lead from start to finish.

"It's always the game plan to get out front, get the hole shot and good vision," Ferris said.

"You can focus on yourself then when you're in the lead."

Ferris said the physically gruelling and tactical race was the perfect preparation for the upcoming national motocross season.

"This is a pre-season test for me - the nationals are coming up in a month," he said.

"It's really good to see where the pace is at, see where the new bike is at.

"And it's safe to say the settings are working really well.

"The big downhills and undulation really test out your body.

"That was a big test to come here and make sure the physical program is working as well.

"Everything feels like it's on track and we've got another month to make sure we're in tip top shape for the nationals.

Rating Echo Valley as one of his favourite Australian tracks, Ferris said he hopes to see the nationals return to Toowoomba soon.

"It's always exciting coming here to Toowoomba," he said.

"Hopefully we see the nationals back here in 2019."
