FOOTBALL: The SWQ Thunder will look to build on their 2018 NPL success with a new coach next season.

Thiago Kosloski will take the reins as the Thunder's technical director and senior men's coach.

The Thunder finished seventh this year, their best NPL performance to date, and Kosloski hopes to build on that result.

"I aim to build on the great season by our senior team,” Kosloski said.

"We have retained the core of our talented, home-grown players and hope to make some key signings in the next couple of months.

"This may include a visa player who will bring some experience to a young squad.”

Kosloski, who moved to Toowoomba with his family from Brazil last year, has a long association with the region having worked with Toowoomba Grammar School and the Thunder.

As well as overseeing the Thunder's senior program, he also has a strong desire to develop the club's young players.

"I see much potential in junior football players in this country,” he said.

"As technical director, our coaches will be focusing on improving technique, and I hope to enable our players to develop a greater understanding of game awareness and the importance of decision making.”

Thunder chairwoman Mandy Adams said Kosloski's appointment was a great step forward for the club.

"Thiago was selected for the role from a very high-quality pool of applicants,” she said.

"It is reassuring to know that there is significant interest from highly qualified applicants,” she said.

"This reflects how far we have come as a club.

"I would also like to express our sincere thanks to outgoing head coach Francesco Zanoncelli. Francesco did an outstanding job last season, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
