FOOTBALL: Willowburn's Premier women secured the President's Cup in style last weekend with a convincing 6-0 win over rivals Rockville.

The Magpies have been imposing this season - scoring 106 goals and conceding just two.

But their goal-scoring feats are not the reason why they're flying high this season, according to coach Stephen Pennells.

"The attitude of the girls is what impresses me the most,” Pennells said.

"I've always believed you build good teams from the back - if you're not conceding goals you'll win a lot of games.

"And these girls hate conceding goals - they don't even like teams having open shots.

"Everyone of them works hard off the ball - they'll track back 20-30m to shut down a player and win the ball. That's an admirable quality.”

It's that attitude and commitment that could spell trouble for Willowburn's rivals.

"The challenge for us now is to build on our President's Cup win,” Pennells said.

"Over the next few weeks we will keep building and improving on our performances.

"We want to be heading into they finals in peak condition.

"At the start of the season we identified Rockville as the benchmark - they held all four trophies - the job is only half done for us.”

In the men's competition USQ look to bounce back after their 8-7 defeat to Willowburn on penalties.

The current ladder leaders are away tomorrow to a Warwick Wolves outfit that are finding a little bit of form.

Wolves will be looking to prove their 3-1 round 10 defeat of Willowburn was no fluke.
